I decided to post my 5 favorite traditional face masks (non-sheet masks) for Texture Tuesday on my Instagram page this week and expand it into my blog. 4 out of 5 are particularly soothing and calming for those struggling with redness or skin sensitivity. And 2 out of 5 are by the same brand.

5 in 1 Bouncy Mask by First Aid Beauty ($38)This mask is perfect for someone like myself who tends to stay up too late and wake up too early the next day! It’s described on the website with the tag nourish, calm, plump, smooth, and refine. And that’s exactly what it does.

I recently reviewed this product for an earlier post. I gave it a 10/10 and am still blissing out over here over this incredible new mask.

This is one of my favorite summertime masks! I rarely use it during the winter but it’s refreshing and helps you to cool down on hot days.

I credit it with my skin being able to function at all. I don’t know that I would be able to use any of the other products I use if I didn’t have this ONE mask calming my skin down twice a week.

My 5 Favorite Face Masks of 2018 - First Aid Beauty, Glow Recipe,Peter Thomas Roth, Kiehl’s

DIY Beauty- Simple Papaya and Green Tea Face Mask for a Brighter and Refreshed Complexion

The “Brighter” Skin MASK

Ingredients:

1 tsp lemon juice

2 tsp baking soda

1/2 cup of green tea

1/2 a papaya

1/4 cup uncooked oats

Combine ingredients together in a blender food processor. Refrigerate for 2 hours and apply directly to skin. Rub gently into your skin for 1-2 minutes and leave it on for 15-25 minutes. Splash your face to begin removing. Let the water loosen the dry mask up some and gently massage it into your skin as you wipe it away. Make sure all of the mask is gone and wash your face with your normal cleanser, follow up with a gentle toner and moisturizer.

Cucumber and Chamomile – Simple 4 Ingredient DIY Skin Calming Mask

SIMPLE 4 INGREDIENT SKIN CALMING MASK

Skin Calming Mask:

1/2 of a cucumber

1/4 cup chamomile tea

1/2 cup cooked oats

1 tbsp honey

You can brew your chamomile tea ahead of time as you will not need or want it warm to prepare the face mask.

Combine your 4 ingredients together in a blender food processor. Refrigerate for 2 hours and apply directly to skin without rubbing it in abrasively so you don’t cause any irritation of any kind. The oats are not intended to be used for exfoliating. They are there to sooth in this mask. Be as gentle with your skin as possible. Leave the mask on your face for 10-20 minutes depending on what feels most comfortable. Splash your face with water to begin removing the dried mask. Let the water loosen it up some and gently massage it off of your skin as you wipe it away. Make sure all of the mask is gone and wash your face with your normal cleanser, follow up with a gentle toner and moisturizer.

If there’s any leftover mask, you can always refrigerate or freeze it for later.

Hello hello! Before we get started with this unboxing of my most recent Sephora Play! Beauty bag, let’s hold up for a minute and get prepared for a serious moment of skincare product glory and joyfully yell “DRUNK ELEPHANT!! DRUNK ELEPHANT!!! DrrrrrrUNK ELEPHANT!!!.” Because my Play! By Sephora package this month contained a Drunk Elephant product and I am way excited because it’s the one cult brand I have yet to try for myself. I don’t know how it will work out on my skin but I am singing and dancing tonight because I get to try this Drunk Elephant Babyfacial. Hopefully it doesn’t burn my face off as I have especially sensitive skin.

This is probably the best Play! By Sephora subscription bag I have ever seen. I don’t know what Sephora can do to top this one. April 2018 Sephora Play! includes Drunk Elephant, PETER THOMAS ROTH, Philosophy, Urban Decay, Sephora Collection, and a living proof sample.
